It is clear that Lockney represents a superior alternative for locating businesses that serve West Texas and the surrounding region. 1. Lockney is located just outside the city limits on U.S. Highway 70, a major east-west trucking artery. US 70 intersects with Interstate 27 some 18 miles to the west of the facility. The Lockney facility features unencumbered access to US 70. Rail access is available approximately 12 miles to the west.
   
2. A skilled workforce is readily available. In addition, grants, low-interest loans and training assistance are readily available via the South Plains Association of Governments, Texas Workforce Commission, and the Workforce Investment Act.
   
3. Businesses considering location in Lockney will encounter a friendly business environment designed to make businesses profitable as soon as possible.
   
4. Lockney offers complete hospital, emergency room, physical therapy/rehabilitation, and medical air transport services.
   
5. Lockney Independent School District is highly rated by the State of Texas. Two major regional universities, Wayland Baptist in Plainview and West Texas A&M in Canyon, and a major research university, Texas Tech, are located within one hour of Lockney.
   
6. Airport facilities capable of handling corporate jets are located 15 miles west and nine miles east of Lockney, while commercial jet service is available in Lubbock, located 50 miles to the south, and Amarillo, located 70 miles to the north.
   
7. The recently completed Floyd County Unity Center provides an excellent venue for trade shows or special events.
   
8. Lockney is noted for its low crime rate, excellent city services, and small town ethic of hard work and community service.
